Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use rebeccabear.co.uk, why, and what your rights are. I keep it as short as I can, and I only collect what I need.
Who I am
This website is run by Rebecca Bear (“I”, “me”), a personal trainer and online coach based in Scotland. I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this website.
Contact: hello@rebeccabear.co.uk
What this policy covers
This policy covers rebeccabear.co.uk only. If you join Bearbell, my online coaching and education platform at bearbell.mvt.so, your information there is covered by the Bearbell privacy policy.
What I collect
- What you give me: your name and email address when you join my mailing list or a waitlist, the interests you tick (for example, which courses you’d like to hear about), and anything you write in the contact form.
- What your device sends automatically: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit. Some of this is collected by cookies, only if you agree to them (see Cookies and analytics).
I don’t ask for payment details on this website.
Free tools and calculators
The free tools on this site, such as the macro calculator, run in your web browser. The numbers you enter (for example your weight, height, age or activity level) are not sent to me, stored or linked to you, and they disappear when you leave or refresh the page.
Health information
This website doesn’t ask for health information. If you choose to include health details in a message to me, I’ll use them only to reply to you and won’t add them to my mailing list. Please don’t send medical details through the contact form; if we work together, I’ll ask for what I need in a more secure way.
How I use it, and the legal basis
UK data protection law (UK GDPR) asks me to give a legal reason for each use.
| What I do | Information used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send the emails you signed up for (newsletter, waitlist updates, launch news) | Name, email, interests you ticked | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Reply to your messages | Name, email, your message | Legitimate interests: answering people who contact me |
| Understand which pages are useful, so I can improve the site | Analytics data (only with cookie consent) | Your consent |
| Keep the website secure and working | IP address, technical data | Legitimate interests: running a safe website |
I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it to make automated decisions about you.
Emails
My mailing list is run by MailerLite. When you sign up, you’ll get an email asking you to confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link. MailerLite records whether emails are opened and which links are clicked, so I can see what’s useful; you can stop this by unsubscribing.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files saved by your browser. Essential cookies keep the site working and don’t need consent. I only use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and load embedded videos if you agree in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. My cookie policy lists the cookies used.
Embedded content
Some pages show videos or posts from other sites, such as YouTube or Instagram. These sites can collect data about you when the content loads, so they only load after you agree to cookies. Their own privacy policies apply.
Who I share it with
I use a few trusted services to run the site. They handle your information only on my behalf and under data protection contracts.
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| IONOS | Hosts this website |
| MailerLite | Runs my mailing list and waitlists |
| Google Analytics | Website statistics (only with your consent) |
| Contact Form 7 | Sends contact form messages to my email |
I’ll only share information otherwise if the law requires it.
Information sent outside the UK
Some of these services store or process data outside the UK, for example in the EU or the US. When that happens, it’s protected by UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long I keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Mailing list and waitlist details | Until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them |
| Unconfirmed sign-ups | Deleted after 30 days |
| Contact form messages | 12 months after our last contact, unless we start working together |
| Analytics data | 14 months |
Keeping it safe
The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and I use strong passwords and two-step login on the services that hold your information.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct it
- ask me to delete it
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to me using it
- ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing or changing your cookie settings
To use any of these rights, email hello@rebeccabear.co.uk. I’ll reply within one month. There’s no charge.
Children
This website is for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
